More than 200 tribes will be represented this weekend at the third annual Discover Native America Powwow and Music Festival at Eckerd College. The weekend will be filled with dancers and drummers, an American Indian marketplace, games, storytelling, arts and crafts and more. Entertainers include Mohican songwriter Bill Miller, the women's group Ulali, flutist Robert Tree Cody, and Seminole Chief Jim Billie.
The Discover Native America festival is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Eckerd College, 4200 54th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. (727) 864-8297 or (800) 535-2228.
Related events include the Discover Native America Film Festival and the Indian Storytelling in Voice and Music event.
The film festival continues today through Saturday in Eckerd's Dendy-McNair Auditorium (http://www.eckerd.edu/ for schedule).
The storytelling event features Seminole Chief Jim Billie and folk rocker Keith Secola at 7:30 p.m. Fri. at the college's Dendy-McNair Auditorium, St. Petersburg. (727) 864-8297.
