3 remove selves from vote board
TARPON SPRINGS -- Three city commissioners have removed themselves from the canvassing board that will oversee the city's March 20 election, citing what they described as a personal attack by mayoral candidate Costa Vatikiotis. Commissioners Cindy Domino, Jim Archer and David Archie said Tuesday night that they would rather have members of the public replace them on the board than allow Vatikiotis' criticism to be an issue in the oversight of vote-counting. Vatikiotis had said Domino and Archer should not be allowed to serve on the board because they have signs in their yards supporting his opponent, Mayor Frank DiDonato. City Attorney John Hubbard said the commissioners can support any candidate any way they choose and still serve on the canvassing board. Commissioners will discuss new appointments at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 324 E Pine St.
Clearwater police have cited the driver who caused an accident that killed a motorcyclist last month.
Clearwater resident Marion Curtis is charged with violating the right of way, said police spokesman Wayne Shelor.
Motorcyclist Qui Trang Tong, 37, of Clearwater died Feb. 14 after he hit Curtis' car.
Curtis pulled in front of him at Pierce Street and Pierce Boulevard about 3 p.m. Feb. 13, police said.
After the crash, Tong, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he died.

LARGO -- Musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, magicians and the like are invited to audition for the annual Senior Talent Show at Largo Community Center. Participants must be 55 years or older. Auditions will be at 3 p.m. Friday and March 9 at the center, 65 Fourth St. NW. There will be a dress rehearsal at 3 p.m. March 16. The show is at 1 p.m. March 22 at the center.
