Citrus digestBy Times staff writers © St. Petersburg Times, published March 3, 2001 Concert, auction, dinner to help patientFLORAL CITY -- A fundraiser to help pay medical costs for a cancer patient will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Sleepy Hollow Fishing Lodge, 10333 E Gobbler Drive. The money will help pay for medical care and living expenses for cabinetmaker Arthur Dallaire. An inoperable tumorrecently was diagnosed near his heart. Dallaire is awaiting approval from Social Security disability benefits, but a six-month wait is expected. The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, live music by several Tampa Bay blues bands and a barbecued chicken dinner. Admission is $10, which includes the dinner. Among the silent auction items are concert tickets for events at Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa and Disney collectibles. Bands performing include Blue Dice, the Sardines and Pacific Wind. Call 726-3242. Landfill is offering free mulchLECANTO -- The Citrus County Central Landfill has free mulch available indefinitely. Mulch is used to help keep moisture in plants and shrubs and helps conserve water during this time of severe drought. Open-top trucks and trailers will be loaded 8 a.m to 4 p.m., Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the landfill, 230 W Gulf to Lake Highway, in the Recycle Alley section (directions at the scale house). The recipient must have a tarp to cover the load and must sign a waiver before pickup. Call 746-5000 for information.
