HOMOSASSA -- Area boaters can now access the Web site of Homosassa Flotilla 15-4 of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

George Koprowski, flotilla commander of Homosassa Flotilla 15-4, advises that once there, the boating public (and others) will find valuable information and interesting facts as well as links to other Web sites that can provide them with a variety of information. Visit the Web site at www.uscgaux.org/-0701504/.

You will find gulf coast weather and marine forecasts, gulf coast tide schedules as well as real-time wind and sea conditions.

Schedules for Homosassa Flotilla 15-4's popular "Boating Safety and Seamanship" classes also will be posted on the site, as well as information on how to obtain a free "Vessel Safety Check."

A brief history of the U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary may also be found at the Web site.

The Web site will help boaters learn:

More about Homosassa Flotilla 15-4 and what it does as a support unit for the U.S. Coast Guard.

About public education courses and safety patrols both on the water and in the air, as well as search and rescue operations.

About the communication services provided as well as the aids to navigation and environmental patrols that it conducts. Here boaters also will find information on how they can become members of Homosassa Flotilla 15-4 and participate in these activities.

The flotilla invites boaters to visit its new home page where they will have an opportunity to gain valuable information designed to make boating a safe and more pleasurable experience. Those visiting the site are encouraged to send the flotilla e-mail with thoughts, suggestions and/or questions.

Flotilla Webmaster Don McKeown will provide those who message with any information sought or required. Homosassa Flotilla 15-4 urges boaters to operate vessels safely and courteously. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Homosassa Flotilla 15-4 meets the first Tuesday of each month.

The meetings are conducted at the flotilla facility on the south side of Green Acres Drive just off U.S. 19 S, Homosassa Springs.

Anyone interested in the promotion of safe boating and being of service to the Coast Guard, as well as the boating public, is invited to attend.

Flotilla 15-4 says boaters are sure to find something of interest in its many activities, whether it's boating, flying, public education, communications or its many other activities.
