Tampa Palms Elementary School congratulates two of its fifth-grade students for their work in recent essay contests.

David Orr was a finalist for his essay, "What Being a Junior Deputy Means to Me," in a contest sponsored by the Sheriff's Office Junior Deputies League. Each of the winners received a trophy, a certificate and a $100 savings bond.

Jessica Widden won honorable mention in a countywide Free Enterprise essay contest. It attracted 800 entrants, who described businesses they would like to run. Her essay was about Critter Sitters, a pet sitting service.
