The St. Petersburg Times was selected last week as one of the top 10 Sunday sports sections in the country by the Associated Press Sports Editors.

The Times has six top-10 rankings in Sunday, daily or special section competition since 1995. Last year's Sunday entries included the March 19 issue, which featured coverage of the NCAA basketball tournament and the Devil Rays' trip to Venezuela, and the Dec. 3 issue, featuring Florida's football victory over Auburn in the SEC title game.

Competing in the largest circulation category, more than 250,000, the Times was honored with the Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Dallas Morning News, Kansas City Star, Los Angeles Times, New York Daily News, New York Times, Newark Star-Ledger and Newsday.

The Times also won honorable mention in the special section category for a Bucs playoff section that featured a life-size poster of running back Warrick Dunn.

Among other large papers in the state, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Miami Herald won honorable mention in daily, Sunday and special section. The Orlando Sentinel won honorable mention in special section.

In the 100,000-250,000 circulation category, the Palm Beach Post was top 10 in the daily, Sunday and special section categories. The Tampa Tribune received honorable mention for its Sunday section.
