FSU reaches ACC semifinal for first time

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Brooke Wyckoff scored a team-high 18 and Katelyn Vujas got five of her 17 points in the final 2:05 Saturday as Florida State beat Virginia 83-77 in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Point guard Lakesha Springle hit six consecutive free throws in the final 48 seconds as the fourth-seeded Seminoles reached the tournament semifinals for the first time in school history.

"Virginia played a great, great basketball game," FSU coach Sue Semrau said. "What an amazing game by our seniors tonight, but everybody contributed and it was truly a team victory. I'm very excited we were able to pull out this game."

Virginia had won 21 of 22 previous meetings with FSU, including 77-65 in the regular-season finale for both teams.

NO. 25 CLEMSON 75, UNC 57: Marci Glenney had 18 points, six straight late in the second half, as the second-seeded Tigers won their fifth in a row.

NO. 15 VANDERBILT 77, NO. 1 UT 74: Ashley McElhiney had 27 points and Chantelle Anderson 26 as the Commodores upset the Vols in the semifinals in Memphis, Tenn.

DePAUL 78, LOUISVILLE 57: Lynae Williams scored 19 as the eighth-seeded Blue Demons upset the top-seeded Cardinals in the quarterfinals in Milwaukee.

CINCINNATI 74, UAB 56: Valerie King scored 27 to lead the fifth-seeded Bearcats.
