FSU reaches ACC semifinal for first time

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Brooke Wyckoff scored a team-high 18 and Katelyn Vujas got five of her 17 points in the final 2:05 Saturday as Florida State beat Virginia 83-77 in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Point guard Lakesha Springle hit six consecutive free throws in the final 48 seconds as the fourth-seeded Seminoles reached the tournament semifinals for the first time in school history.

"Virginia played a great, great basketball game," FSU coach Sue Semrau said. "What an amazing game by our seniors tonight, but everybody contributed and it was truly a team victory. I'm very excited we were able to pull out this game."

Virginia had won 21 of 22 previous meetings with FSU, including 77-65 in the regular-season finale for both teams.

NO. 25 CLEMSON 75, UNC 57: Marci Glenney had 18 points, six straight late in the second half, as the second-seeded Tigers won their fifth in a row.

SEC tournament

NO. 15 VANDERBILT 77, NO. 1 UT 74: Ashley McElhiney had 27 points and Chantelle Anderson 26 as the Commodores upset the Vols in the semifinals in Memphis, Tenn.

C-USA tournament

DePAUL 78, LOUISVILLE 57: Lynae Williams scored 19 as the eighth-seeded Blue Demons upset the top-seeded Cardinals in the quarterfinals in Milwaukee.

CINCINNATI 74, UAB 56: Valerie King scored 27 to lead the fifth-seeded Bearcats.

BC 62, UM 49: Jamie Cournoyer had a season-high 24 points to lead the Eagles in the first round of the Big East tournament in Storrs, Conn.

STETSON 78, JU 55: Cher Dyson had 17 points to lead the host Hatters.

NO. 5 LA. TECH 86, W. KY. 63: Cheryl Ford scored all 13 of her points in the second half as the Techsters won a quarterfinal of the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Mobile, Ala.

NO. 8 PURDUE 74, MICHIGAN 55: Katie Douglas scored 14 of her 18 in the first half for the Boilermakers in a Big Ten tournament semifinal in Grand Rapids, Mich.

NO. 12 XAVIER 86, UMASS 64: Jennifer Phillips had 22 points as Xavier advanced to the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament in Philadelphia.

NO. 13 UTAH 64, NEW MEXICO 59: Lauren Beckman had 16 points and nine rebounds and reserve Erin Gibbons sparked a decisive second-half run as the host Utes rallied.

NO. 18 SW MISSOURI ST. 87, DRAKE 63: Jackie Stiles added 35 points to her NCAA career scoring record as the host Bears earned a share of the Missouri Valley championship.

OREGON ST. 72, NO. 22 ARIZ. ST. 64: Felicia Ragland scored a career-high 32 as the host Beavers won their fifth straight.

NO. 23 IOWA 86, ILLINOIS 79: Cara Consuegra had 21 points to lead five players in double figures for the Hawkeyes in a Big Ten semifinal.
