Xpress, the Coolest Section of the St. Petersburg Times, is the home for features, news and views of interest to young readers. Most of the work in Xpress, which appears on Mondays in Floridian, is produced by the Times' X-Team. The team of journalists ages 9-17 from around the Tampa Bay area is selected every year at the end of the school year to serve during the following school term. The current team of 12 was chosen out of 150 applicants. Watch for X-Team application forms in Xpress during the month of May.

'Harry Potter' gets an early showing

For a peek at the upcoming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone movie, check out the new Warner Bros. Web site at www.harrypotter.com. It features exclusive photos, news, quizzes, games, production updates, trailers and movie clips as they become available. The movie is set for release in November.

TEENick caters to slightly older set

Nickelodeon now offers a Sunday night programing block specifically for kids ages 9 to 14. The cable channel calls the new destination TEENick and it airs at 6 p.m. TEENick features live-action and animated shows such as Taina, Caitlin's Way, Kenan and Kel and As Told to Ginger. But here's where TEENick really gets good: it will include concert specials, lifestyle information, online content and a weekly countdown of viewers' top music video picks.

'Who I Am' finds itself in Top 10

The title track from teen country singer Jessica Andrews' new album, Who I Am, has made it into the the Top 10 on the Billboard country charts. Not bad for a 17-year-old who has only been on the music scene for about two years. This summer Jessica will tour with fellow country kid crooner 13-year-old Billy Gilman.

'Family Fun' gets crafty

If you're the crafty type, check out the March issue of Family Fun magazine, which is on newsstands now. It's filled with great craftmaking ideas such as how to create mini bread monsters, friendly face T-shirts, paper bag neighborhoods, milk jug animal masks and mini puppet theaters. There's also information on new craft supplies and furniture painting.

Wanted: Radio Disney Kidcasters

Clear your throat, take a breath and let your voice be heard during Radio Disney's search for new Kidcasters. WWMI-AM 1380, the local Radio Disney station, is hosting auditions in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties for kids ages 8 to 12. Auditions will take place at Dillard's department stores from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following malls: WestShore Plaza (Tampa) on Saturday, ParkSide Mall (Pinellas Park) on March 17, University Mall (Tampa) on March 24, Tyrone Square (St. Petersburg) on March 31 and Brandon TownCenter (Brandon) on April 7.
