Man says he lost $125 in Coastal Mart robbery

DADE CITY -- An 83-year-old Syracuse, N.Y., man told Pasco County sheriff's deputies he was attacked and robbed Sunday morning in a convenience store restroom.

According to Sheriff's Office reports, the man told deputies he was stopped at the Coastal Mart, 14922 U.S. 301, about 8:30 a.m. when he used the restroom. As he left, he said, a man pushed him back inside.

The man said he handed over his wallet and the robber took out $125 in cash and fled, leaving the wallet.

A witness, who was not identified by the Sheriff's Office, said he heard the commotion and chased a suspect as he fled across U.S. 301, cornering him briefly before he escaped.
