At Tampa's airportBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published March 6, 2001 The winter storm in the Northeast continued to affect flights hundreds of miles away. At Tampa International Airport, 45 flights were canceled Monday, said Brenda Geohagan, TIA spokeswoman. Of those, 23 were to and from airports around New York City: LaGuardia, John F. Kennedy and Newark. Twelve were Boston flights and the remaining 10 involved other Northeast cities. More flights were delayed than Geohagan could keep track of, she said. Even if passengers are flying from Tampa to a destination well out of the storm's reach, they should be prepared for problems. "Definitely keep in touch with your airline," Geohagan said. "You never know if that aircraft has to come from a Northeastern city before it makes your trip." © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
