Voters set to select commissioner today

Residents will chose between Sal Gattuso and Harriet Crozier for the District 5 commission seat.

Sal Gattuso

AGE: 50

BACKGROUND: Has never held public office. Wants the job to "get more representation for the people and present new ideas to the people and city council." Has been on the city's code enforcement board since August 1999. He maintains the runways of MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. He moved to Largo from Illinois in March 1997, is married and has two sons.

Harriet Crozier

AGE: 56

BACKGROUND: Was first elected to the commission in 1993. Wants the job "to continue serving the people of Largo." She served two terms before being defeated in 1999 by Mary Laurance. Crozier re-emerged last year and won election to a yearlong term on the commission. She's a computer instructor at the Pinellas Technical Education Center and a 29-year resident of Largo. She is married and has a daughter.
