Dariel Hutton, 35, of 1520 N Saturn Ave., No. 10, was arrested Monday on a child neglect charge in connection with the incident, which occurred Feb. 20, police reports state. The neighbor contacted the Department of Children of Families after Hutton didn't return by the next morning. The child was taken into DCF custody and was treated at Morton Plant Hospital. The child's ailment was not released. Rock removal begins on county beachesA contractor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began tilling sand on Pinellas beaches Monday to remove rocks. The rocks were placed there by mistake when the corps renourished a 9-mile stretch of sand in 1998. The corps originally planned a more elaborate project to remove rocks but now is using a tractor to till the sand 3 feet deep. Then the tractor will use a rake to remove rocks 2 inches across or larger down to 1 foot deep. The project will cost $443,000. The company, Tigerhole Landscaping Inc. of Jacksonville, has started work in Belleair Beach and Clearwater Beach. The project will run from North Redington Beach to Sand Key, skipping over Belleair Shore, which wasn't renourished. The corps plans to finish the project by April 1.
