HOMOSASSA SPRINGS -- Sheriff's deputies say a Homosassa woman's last-second decision to cross a road cost her a traffic ticket, minor injuries and a ride that ended with her 1999 black Kia Sportage overturned on Audubon Terrace.

Two other cars were involved in the wreck, but no one suffered serious injuries.

Citrus County sheriff's deputy Mike Kanter said Teresa May Davis, 26, and her passenger, Donny Pierce, also of Homosassa, were at a stop sign on the north side of County Road 490 on Wednesday.

They started to turn right, then decided to go straight across the road. Kanter said Davis pulled into the path of a green 1972 Ford pickup driven by Daniel John Edick, 38, of Homosassa.

Edick's truck plowed into the rear passenger side of the Kia, causing it to flip onto its side. The Kia's roof hit the front of a silver 1993 Ford Mustang, driven by Mike Wells, 23, of Inverness, who was sitting at a stop sign across the street.

The car finally came to rest on the south side of CR 490, lying driver's side down.

Davis was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Wells and Pierce also suffered minor injuries but weren't transported. Edick was uninjured.

Kanter said Davis would be cited for failure to yield right of way. But he also gave a ticket to Edick for driving with a suspended license.
