'Roarin' Judy' to open Friday

The eastern premiere of Roarin' Judy will open at the Museum of Science and Industry, 4801 E Fowler Ave. The play, written by Florida playwright Keith Fersti, will feature Dawn Truax in a solo performance. Show times for the performance, presented by STAGEWORKS, will be at 7:30 Fridays and Saturdays beginning this week and 4 p.m. Sundays thorough March 18. Tickets are $14 general admission, $12 for students and seniors, and $7 student rush (a half-hour before curtain). There will be 30 free student seats on Fridays; first come, first served. Egypt Shrine Circus at USF

The three-day Egypt Shrine Circus will be held on the campus grounds at the University of South Florida on Fowler Avenue at Bruce B Downs Boulevard. Show times will be 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. All seats are $9. The family event will include the three-ring circus featuring three different acts, Hoffman's exotic jungle cats, gyro wheel, an aerial extravaganza, European clown Renzo Tociolini, the Rosaire family performing bears, Miss Stevana's Doggie Fashion Show, the Bill Morris Performing Elephants, Shrine circus clowns and much more. Rotary Club breakfast meeting is Friday

The New Tampa Rotary Club will meet for breakfast at 7 a.m. Friday in the Palms Room of the Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd. This week's speaker will be Kelly Milizano, Wharton High School's faculty adviser to the Model U.N. She and her students will discuss their experiences on their recent trip to The Hague, Netherlands. Membership in the Rotary Club of New Tampa is open to all professional and business men and women who live or work in the New Tampa area. For information, call (813) 907-0215.

Lions Club to meet for dinner, bingo

The Lions Club of Lutz-Land O'Lakes will host an evening of bingo from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday at its Den on U.S. 41 and Lutz-Lake Fern Road. Proceeds will benefit the Very Special Arts program for handicapped children. The cost is $35, and includes dinner. AAUW to meet Saturday

The Sun City branch of the American Association of University Women will meet at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Freedom Plaza Club, Upper Creek Drive and American Eagle Boulevard. Lunch will be served at noon. Guest speaker Joe Pine of Metro Crime Prevention of Florida will discuss the latest methods with which crime is being handled. The cost is $8.75. Big band dance scheduled for Sunday

The Big Band Tea Dance will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Community Hall, 1910 S Pebble Beach Blvd. Tickets will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays at the Community Association Office, 1009 N Pebble Beach Blvd. Dress code includes jacket and tie. Collectible show is Saturday

The seventh annual Flamingo Fling Secondary Market Collectible Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Four Points Hotel, 7401 E Hillsborouggh Ave. Many prototypes and one-of-a-kind collectibles will be available to the highest bidders. The event will also include manufacturers displaying new items and artists signing their artwork. A charity dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Friday. Admission is $40. Proceeds will benefit Southeastern Guide Dogs. Flamingo Fling is a charitable organization that raises money for local charities. For information, call (813) 971-7402.
