Man charged with aggravated battery

DADE CITY -- A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged in a February incident in which Pasco County sheriff's deputies say he offered his girlfriend for prostitution and then slashed an angry would-be customer.

After his arrest, the man spit on the deputy and kicked his patrol car several times, deputies said.

Walter J. Fudge of 915 Bowman St. in Dade City was charged with aggravated battery with a knife and battery on a law enforcement officer, deputies said.

On Feb. 12, Fudge brought a man to Room 242 of the Valencia Motel and charged him $20 for sexual favors from his girlfriend, deputies said. But when Fudge's girlfriend refused, , the man demanded his money back.

Fudge punched him and then cut the man's face with a knife, deputies said. Then Fudge fled.

He was arrested Tuesday night in his home, deputies said.

He spit on deputy Eduardo Roque, who arrested him, and then said he had AIDS and hoped Roque got the disease, according to a report.

Any deputy who is concerned he might have gotten AIDS can have a free test, Sheriff's Office spokesman Jon Powers said.

He did not know whether Roque had requested a test.

Fudge was being held Wednesday in county jail at Land O'Lakes on $15,000 bail, deputies said.
