'Blow Dry' takes on hairdressers

From the screenwriter of The Full Monty comes Blow Dry, an equally daft comedy about hairstyling and the sometimes eccentric personalities that wield combs and scissors. Simon Beaufoy, an Oscar nominee for The Full Monty, focuses on England's National Hairdressing Championships, being held in a tiny Yorkshire village. The provincial residents aren't prepared for the glamor, cutthroat deceit and hairspray fumes that follow. Blow Dry includes some familiar faces: Alan Rickman (Galaxy Quest), Natasha Richardson, above, (Nell), Rachel Griffith (Hilary and Jackie) and Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That). Opened Wednesday at Channelside 9 in Tampa.
