TAMPA -- Jonathan Seber, one of the top long-range shooters in Hillsborough County, confirmed Thursday he is transferring from Armwood to Plant.

Seber said the move is based on his family moving from Seffner to Plant's school zone in south Tampa.

Seber's arrival is expected to give Plant a boost following one of the most successful seasons in Panther history, which ended Wednesday with a 55-39 Class 5A state semifinal loss to Belleview.

"Everything just sort of fell into place," Seber said.

"I've known (Tyler Azzarelli) and (Mike Williams) since we played on AAU teams when we were 12 years old. I know those guys, and I'm excited about the transfer."

The move will put Seber, a junior next fall, at his third school in as many years. He played for Seminole Presbyterian during the 1999-2000 season as a freshman. He made 112 three-pointers and helped lead the Lancers into the Class A state semifinals.

Seber averaged 10 points a game for Armwood, which was eliminated in the first round of the state playoffs this past season, and has scored 1,104 career points.

"I know that Jonathan Seber is a real good player," Panther coach Mike Phillips said. "But if he is coming to Plant, he will have to try out for the team just like everybody else. And I wish the best of luck to him."

Seber said, "I watched Plant play in the state semifinal, and I think that team has a good chance to get back to state next year.

"I'm totally comfortable with the move to Plant."
