A faithful reader needs instructions

It's always wonderful to hear from new readers of the column but equally satisfying to keep in touch with old friends too. One of the latter, a lady you may remember, is Lora Brandon of South Pasadena. Several times she has sent letters related to the hand-pieced quilt tops she makes.
She is still busily at work piecing the quilt blocks, but her 95-year-old hands are having trouble putting them together. Fortunately, a friend gave her a sewing machine, which will help immensely if Lora can learn how to operate it.
The machine, a Raccar, also has a few years on it, and it has lost its instructions. If you can share your instructions with Lora, she will be delighted; she is just about ready to put blocks together for a new quilt top. Please call (727) 343-0390.
Danielle of St. Petersburg collects "Got milk?" ads and is currently looking for those that appeared in 1998 or earlier to complete her collection. Got ads? we ask. Please send them to Danielle in care of this column.
Expect the unexpected from our readers. For example, this week we have a request for a small highchair but not for a baby. Carol Davis of Dunedin received a lovely baby doll for Christmas and wants to display it seated in the highchair. Give her a call at (727) 734-3781.
Don Blackwell of Hudson doesn't pull his punches. He simply writes that he is looking for a free, good PC. Don's phone number is (727) 869-7852.
A reader is offering about 70 recorded reel-to-reel discs and 50 direct-to-discs records, free to anyone who is interested. The number to call is (727) 726-2328.
Barbara Knight is looking for painting books titled Tole Red, Tole Yellow, Tole Green, Tole Blue or Tole Purple, edited by Annie Richardson and published by Color Craft Publishing. (The latter, unfortunately, is no longer in the publishing business.) If you have a copy you are willing to pass along, Barbara may be reached at (727) 586-0889.
Are you a Floridian with a sun lamp? Martie Pickett of Largo has a nephew who could use some indoor rays. Please call (727) 559-7765.
Dick Vota of New Port Richey needs the music for Buena Sera, Mrs. Campbell for a show he is giving at his clubhouse. Please call him at (727) 856-6668.
Anna Angell of Clearwater is offering to play tit for tat, Reader Exchange style. She has stored in her memory some of the items readers are seeking, and in the course of her spring cleaning has come across a few of them in her closets and drawers. One is the three-slotted tape player record holder someone requested. She also has some like-new Singer sewing machine parts: button holer, disks, circular stitcher and instructions for a Singer sewing machine slant needle model and a Touch and Sew machine. A 40-inch roll-up screen for movies or slides is also looking for a home.
Now for the "tat" part of Anna's request. She also needs instructions for a Singer sewing machine, which she bought instructionless at a church rummage sale. It's a Touch and Sew machine, model 758. If you want to get into the game, please call (727) 797-8124.
Several years ago, Anna Stewart of St. Petersburg did a cape in the crochet ripple/chevron design. Unfortunately, she has lost the pattern, but she hopes another crocheter may have it and be willing to share it. Anna is awaiting your call at (727) 522-4084.
Charles and Phyllis Divens of New Port Richey are looking for two recordings: Lisbon Antigua by Nelson Riddle and Quiet Village by Percy Faith. Please call (727) 848-7043 if you have these on records you no longer use or if the Divenses may make a tape.
"There is nothing your readers can't do!" Well, actually, we realized that a long time ago, but Stephanie Cain was nice enough to remind us in a note. She was having trouble with her First Alert Ready-Lite until Marie called and read the instructions for her unit over the phone. Problem solved in a jiffy.
Send requests by mail or e-mail to Reader Exchange, Home & Garden, the Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg 33731 or e-mail email@example.com.
