Dunedin bank robbed; 'Crowbar Robber' soughtBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published March 10, 2001 DUNEDIN -- Detectives suspect that a prolific bank robber who has earned the nickname the "Crowbar Robber" has struck again, though he did not use a crowbar in his latest stickup. A man held up the First National Bank, 1255 Belcher Road in Dunedin, about 9:05 a.m. Friday. He entered the bank, demanded money, implied he had a gun and left on a bicycle, Pinellas County sheriff's officials said. No weapon was shown and no one was injured. The man was wearing a black mask and black clothing. He is a white man, about 5-feet-4 inches tall and 150 pounds. The Crowbar Robber is suspected in 16 Tampa Bay area bank robberies, the first of which was Jan. 20, 1999, in Manatee County. He also is suspected in holdups in Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough counties. Anyone with information about this robbery or the Crowbar Robber can call Cpl. Paul Martin at 582-6305.
