MAN SHOOTS WIFE IN BEVERLY HILLS: Clifford Micklos, 85, was arrested after he called 911 and said he had fatally shot his wife. Ruth Micklos, 80, suffered from chronic health problems. Her husband said she told him she wanted to die. Prosecutors were discussing how to handle the case.
WOMAN KILLED ON U.S. 19: For at least the third time since 1998, a pedestrian was killed on U.S. 19 only minutes after walking out of Jim's Club 19 in Homosassa. This time, the victim was Patricia K. Rose, 36, who had moved here from Middletown, Ohio. She was walking to her hotel Tuesday night.
WESCH GETS TOP JOB: A divided County Commission named Richard Wesch as the county administrator, praising the work ethic and community roots of the man who has temporarily held the position since Gary Kuhl left in September. Commissioners Jim Fowler, Josh Wooten and Gary Bartell supported the choice; Vicki Phillips and Roger Batchelor voted for other candidates.
