Accident report

1. SOUTH MOBLEY ROAD AT GUNN HIGHWAY, FEB. 23, 3:30 A.M.: An eastbound 2001 Ford truck was traveling over the speed limit and lost control while going around a curve. The vehicle overturned across the westbound lanes and hit a light pole. A passenger in the vehicle, a 27-year-old woman, was taken to University Community Hospital -- Carrollwood.

2. LINEBAUGH AVENUE AT MONTAGUE STREET, FEB. 23, 7:40 A.M.: Both an eastbound 1997 Chevrolet truck and a 1991 Hyundai were making U-turns when the Chevrolet rear-ended the Hyundai. The Hyundai driver, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

3. BEARSS AVENUE AT NEBRASKA AVENUE, FEB. 23, 9:45 A.M.: An eastbound 2000 Chevrolet rear-ended a 1996 Lexus. The Chevrolet driver, a 49-year-old woman, was charged with careless driving.

4. GUNN HIGHWAY AT ANDERSON ROAD, FEB. 23, 1:15 P.M.: A westbound 2000 Ford commercial van rear-ended a 2000 Kia, pushing the Kia into the rear of a 1988 Toyota. The injured were taken to University Community Hospital -- Carrollwood.

5. WATERS AVENUE AT HANLEY ROAD, FEB. 23, 3:05 P.M.: A front right tire of a westbound 1992 Honda driving through a parking lot ran over the left foot of a 51-year-old man. The pedestrian refused treatment and reported the incident from his home.

6. FLETCHER AVENUE AT MORRIS BRIDGE ROAD, FEB. 23, 3:10 P.M.: An eastbound 1990 Nissan ran a red light and broadsided a northbound 2001 Chevrolet. The Nissan driver, an 18-year-old man, was charged with running a red light. The Chevrolet driver, a 43-year-old woman, was taken to Tampa General Hospital.

7. 131ST AVENUE AT 22ND STREET, FEB. 23, 5:24 P.M.: An eastbound 1995 Ford rear-ended a 1999 Plymouth, causing the Plymouth to rear-end a 1989 Dodge. The Ford driver, a 45-year-old woman, was charged with careless driving.

8. EHRLICH ROAD AT PENNINGTON ROAD, FEB. 23, 6:56 P.M.: An eastbound 1999 Isuzu turned left into the path of a westbound 2001 Toyota. A DUI investigation was conducted after the scent of alcohol was detected on the breath of the Isuzu driver, a 54-year-old man. The Toyota driver, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to University Community Hospital, Tampa, by her husband. Charges are pending blood test results.

9. EHRLICH ROAD AT SOUTH VILLAGE DRIVE, FEB. 24, 2:45 P.M.: A 34-year-old woman was headed east in a 1997 Chevrolet truck when she hit the gas instead of the brake. She rear-ended a 1997 Honda and was charged with following too closely. The Honda driver, a 21-year-old man, was taken to University Community Hospital -- Carrollwood.

10. SOUTH VILLAGE DRIVE AT TWIN LAKE LANE, FEB. 25, 12:38 A.M.: A westbound 1997 Mitsubishi lost control on the wet road, spun into the center median and hit a raised curb and a utility pole. The driver, a 19-year-old man, complained of minor pains but refused treatment. He was charged with failure to use due care.

11. EHRLICH ROAD AT TURNER ROAD, FEB. 25, 1:05 A.M.: A southbound 1997 Toyota truck ran a red flashing light into the path of a westbound 1983 Chevrolet. The Toyota driver, a 39-year-old man, was charged with violation of a traffic control device. The Chevrolet driver, an 18-year-old man, was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital.

12. SHELDON ROAD AT LINEBAUGH AVENUE, FEB. 25, 6:50 P.M.: A 1999 southbound Mercury turned left into the path of a northbound 2001 Cadillac. The Mercury driver, a 17-year-old boy, said that he had a green arrow. The Cadillac driver, a 30-year-old woman, said that she had a green light. The signal was checked, and it was discovered that when the arrow turns green, through traffic has a red light. 13. EHRLICH ROAD AT TURNER ROAD, FEB. 26, 8:45 P.M.: A northbound 1999 Honda made a right turn into the path of an eastbound 2000 Dodge truck. The Dodge went off the grass shoulder and overturned. The Honda driver, a 17-year-old boy, was charged with violation of right of way.

14. BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD AT BEARSS AVENUE, FEB. 27, 12:19 A.M.: An eastbound 1991 Dodge van ran a red light and went into some shrubbery. The windshield of the van cracked. The driver, a 23-year-old man, was charged with running a red light and no proof of insurance.

15. FLETCHER AVENUE AT ROME AVENUE, FEB. 27, 1:10 P.M.: An eastbound 1996 Nissan stopped for a red light, but the brakes failed, and the car hit a northbound 1993 Nissan that was stopped for the red light. The 1996 Nissan driver, a 20-year-old woman, was charged with defective equipment. The injured were taken to University Community Hospital.

16. MUIRFIELD DRIVE AT NINE EAGLES DRIVE, FEB. 27, 5:14 P.M.: A southbound 2000 Honda traveling over the speed limit made a left turn and hit a tree. The driver, a 48-year-old woman, was taken to Town & Country Hospital, Tampa.

17. MORRIS BRIDGE ROAD AT HAWK HILL ROAD, FEB. 28, 4:10 A.M.: A southbound 1999 Mercury traveling at an unknown speed lost control, went off the road and hit a traffic sign, utility pole and an oak tree before coming to rest on its roof. All five passengers were ejected from the vehicle; the 18-year-old male driver was still inside. One of the passengers, a 16-year-old boy, was killed. The injured were transported to Tampa General Hospital. Charges are pending.

18. LOWELL ROAD AT FOUR OAKS DRIVE, FEB. 28, 10 A.M.: A northbound 1999 Mercury ran a stop sign and was hit by an eastbound 1988 Toyota truck. The Mercury driver, a 75-year-old woman, was charged with violation of a traffic control device. Damage was heavy. Injuries were reported.

19. WATERS AVENUE AT SHELDON ROAD, FEB. 28, 1:44 P.M.: An eastbound 1992 Chrysler turned left into the path of a westbound 1997 Isuzu commercial truck. The Chrysler driver, a 54-year-old man, was charged with violation of right of way. The Isuzu spun counterclockwise, rolled over and hit a sign. The Isuzu driver, a 49-year-old man, was taken to Town & Country Hospital, Tampa, with non-life-threatening injuries.

20. GUNN HIGHWAY AT ANDERSON ROAD, FEB. 28, 2:49 P.M.: A westbound 1987 Pontiac ran a red light into the path of an eastbound 2000 Ford truck that was making a left turn. A southbound 1998 Toyota that was turning right also broadsided the Pontiac. The Pontiac driver, a 34-year-old woman, was charged with violation of a traffic control device and no proof of insurance. Damage was heavy. Minor injuries were reported.

21. BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD AT TAMPA PALMS BOULEVARD, FEB. 28, 2:50 P.M.: A southbound 1986 Volvo broadsided an eastbound 2000 GMC truck that was making a left turn with the green arrow. The Volvo driver, a 25-year-old woman, was charged with violation of right of way.

22. N 22ND STREET AT E 131ST AVENUE, FEB. 28, 5:30 P.M.: A southbound 1991 Ford was driving over the speed limit and rear-ended a 1993 Infiniti, pushing the Infiniti into the rear of a 1991 Toyota. A passenger in the Ford, a 16-year-old girl, was taken to University Community Hospital, Tampa. The Ford driver, a 17-year-old boy, was charged with no valid driver's license and careless driving.

23. BRUCE B. DOWNS BOULEVARD AT 132ND AVENUE, FEB. 28, 6:20 P.M.: A southbound 2000 Saturn turned left into the path of a northbound 1994 Pontiac. The Saturn driver, a 57-year-old woman, was charged with turning left in front of traffic. She was taken to Tampa General Hospital.

24. NEBRASKA AVENUE AT LUTZ LAKE FERN ROAD, MARCH 1, 5 P.M.: A northbound 1993 Saturn rear-ended a 1988 Mercury. The Saturn driver, a 23-year-old woman, was charged with careless driving and taken to University Community Hospital, Tampa.

25. MANHATTAN DRIVE AT GUNN HIGHWAY, MARCH 1, 6:05 P.M.: A westbound 1986 Mercury hit a bicyclist, a 37-year-old man, as he crossed Manhattan Drive at the crosswalk. The Mercury slowed for a red light but failed to come to a complete stop behind the solid white line at an intersection. The Mercury driver, a 29-year-old woman, was charged with failure to yield at an intersection. The bicyclist was taken to Tampa General Hospital with injuries.
