TAMPA -- Lightning left wing Todd Warriner was declared out for the season Saturday night because of a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
Warriner suffered the injury in the third period of Thursday night's game against the Hurricanes when his knee buckled after his skate caught in the ice.
Team spokesman Bill Wickett said Friday's MRI exam indicated a Grade II tear, though he said surgery is not warranted. Wickett said such an injury usually requires 4-6 weeks to heal.
Warriner, 27, has 10 goals, 11 assists and 46 penalty minutes in 64 games and averaged 14:42 of ice time.
