Kweisi Mfume, president and CEO of the NAACP, will speak on Race: Exploring America's Agenda at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the McArthur Gymnasium. Mfume was an activist and an organizer in Baltimore and served on the city council for several years in the 1980s. In 1986 he was elected to the U.S. Congress where he was a consistent advocate of minority and civil rights legislation. He gave up his congressional seat in 1996 to take his position at the NAACP. This is the Peter Rudy Wallace Public Service Lecture for 2000-2001.

The Suncoast Quilting Circle will present Today's Pleasures Tomorrow's Treasures IX, a quilt show, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday in the Campus Activities Center. Demonstrations will include Easy Stained Glass Window Quilting and Quick Back to Front Binding. There will be a silent auction and a quilt raffled off for charity.
