MONDAY: Paddled about 35 miles, from Fort De Soto to Venice Inlet. Heavy wind and rough water made travel difficult. Kayak flipped twice.

TUESDAY: Paddled about 35 miles, from Venice Inlet to first checkpoint, Cayo Costa. Crossed rough water of Boca Grande Pass.

WEDNESDAY: Paddled about 38 miles, from Cayo Costa to Lovers Key, south of Fort Myers Beach, as gulf water subsided.

THURSDAY: Paddled about 50 miles, from Lovers Key to Marco River. Camped on Gullivan Key.

FRIDAY: Paddled about 50 miles, from Gullivan Key to second checkpoint, Chokoloskee, and out to Highland Beach.

SATURDAY: Paddled about 35 miles, from Highland Beach to Flamingo.

SUNDAY: Paddled about 30 miles, from Flamingo to Key Largo in calm water.

TOTAL ESTIMATED MILES: 273. The official race distance was 250, but the paddlers traveled more because of weather.
