Eric Lindros was in St. Louis for a physical Monday, an indication the Blues are serious about acquiring the restricted free agent before today's trade deadline.
Lindros has been seeking a trade from Philadelphia since rejecting an $8.5-million qualifying offer last summer.
"We just had him come in and get checked out physically," said Blues general manager Larry Pleau, who flew with the team to Philadelphia for a game against the Flyers tonight.
Pleau said he hasn't had a chance to talk to doctors but said "everything sounds fine from what I understand." He wouldn't discuss what players the Blues might offer.
Lindros and Phoenix captain Keith Tkachuk were getting most of the attention approaching the season's final trading day.
Phoenix general manager Cliff Fletcher said he was mulling four offers for Tkachuk, and Coyotes coach Bob Francis called off practice until after the deadline.
MARCHMENT DROPS RUCINSKY: Martin Rucinsky became the latest victim of a knee-to-knee hit from Sharks defenseman Bryan Marchment. Rucinsky, Montreal's veteran left wing, was playing the puck near the Sharks blue line 6:27 into the game Monday when Marchment upended him. After three minutes down, Rucinsky was helped to the locker room. This season Marchment dropped Edmonton captain Doug Weight with a knee-to-knee hit.
SHARKS-PENGUINS TRADE: Pittsburgh acquired defenseman Bobby Dollas and goalie Johan Hedberg from San Jose for defenseman Jeff Norton.
THRASHERS: Forward Donald Audette got a two-game suspension for hitting Calgary forward Ronald Petrovicky in the head during a March 11 game. Audette was assessed a match penalty.
DEVILS-ISLANDERS TRADE: New Jersey acquired veteran goalie John Vanbiesbrouck from New York for goalie Chris Terreri and a ninth-round draft pick.
LAWSUIT: The players association filed an antitrust suit in federal court in Michigan against the Ontario Hockey League, its clubs and commissioner. The union said the action resulted from the league's decision this season to prohibit its clubs from signing 20-year-old players who leave American colleges.
PENGUINS 3, RANGERS 3: Brian Leetch scored with 1:08 left in regulation to salvage a point for host New York, which allowed three third-period goals. Mario Lemieux, Jaromir Jagr and Robert Lang scored less than 12 minutes apart to push the Penguins in front with 3:35 left in regulation.
