NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 36-year-old New Port Richey man was charged Tuesday with having sex with a 16-year-old girl, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported.

Richard Allen Polaske, 11844 Caton Ave., was held on 10 counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

According to reports, Polaske admitted having consensual sex with the girl on at least 10 occasions. The girl told detectives the two had talked about marriage, and she turned over letters written by Polaske that contained sexually-explicit language, reports said.

Polaske was held at the county jail in Land O'Lakes Wednesday in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Woman allegedly attacks FHP trooper at roadside

HUDSON -- A Holiday woman was arrested Monday on charges she kicked and tried to hit a trooper who was arresting her for driving drunk, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Keri Lyn Coulter, 21, 2103 Shannon Drive, was charged with DUI, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and carrying a concealed weapon.

Coulter pulled up to a crash scene at U.S. 19 and Sea Ranch Drive Monday night and a Highway Patrol smelled alcohol on her breath, reports said. She tried to drive away, at which point Trooper Douglas Guy reached inside the car and turn off the ignition.

Guy arrested Coulter and handcuffed her after she failed roadside sobriety tests. But Coulter slipped out of the shackles and kicked Guy in the leg, reports said. She fought the trooper's attempts to restrain her, and Guy sprayed her twice with pepper gas, reports said.

When she was booked into the county jail in Land O'Lakes, deputies discovered a knife hidden in her waistband, reports said.

Coulter was held at the jail Wednesday in lieu of $16,000 bail.
