Art along the bay

Sarasota's "Season of Sculpture" exhibition, large works by nationally known artists displayed along the bayfront, ends its four-month run Monday. The works invite interaction and free interpretation. Cassia by Jerry Peart, shown here, is a strange-looking mix of brightly painted aluminum rising out of an organic twist of dull shotcrete. But it's not so wacky if likened to a flower, its beauty stemming (literally) from a hidden root system. It is one of 18 works on view, placed along U.S. 41 between Gulfstream and and Palm avenues. The show is free. Parking is available north and south of Marina Jack's. For information: (941) 331-2008.
