SEMINOLE -- There's a new mayor in town. Well, not exactly.

But as the newly elected vice mayor of Seminole, council member Patricia Hartstein will perform the duties of mayor when Mayor Dottie Reeder is absent from council meetings. Hartstein also will represent the city at public events if Reeder is unable to attend. The City Council voted 4-2 Tuesday to give Hartstein the second-in-command position. The appointment is Hartstein's second as vice mayor. She held the position from 1996 to 1997. Her current term will end next March. The hardest part of the job may be finding the vice mayor pin she wore during her first term. "It's probably in a drawer somewhere," she said. "I was keeping it as a memento. I didn't think this was going to happen again."
