'Moon Over Buffalo' to open

Ken Ludwig's Moon Over Buffalo will open at the Carrollwood Playhouse, 4333 Gunn Highway. The Carrollwood Players will present the performance at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays starting this weekend, March 23-24 and March 30-31; and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25 and April 1. The play is about mistaken identity, misunderstandings and an assortment of doors that make for madness and mayhem in a day in the life of an acting family. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students with identification and people ages 55 and older. For information or reservations, call (813) 265-4000.

Mage Knight competition set for Sunday

The Mage Knight Tournament will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Magic Jungle Games, 4901 W Linebaugh Ave., No. 5. The tournament format for the collectible miniature game will be head-to-head 200 point constructed army rules. Tournament and non-tournament Mage Knight players may participate. Top honors and prizes will be given. Players will also be able to win premium Mage Knight figures and boosters. Spectators are welcome. Call (813) 964-9547.

MacArthur Galleries hosts reception

MacArthur Galleries will host an opening reception for Leonard Filgate from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Filgate's exhibit, "The Roaring Adventures of Rip Squeak," will be on display through April 19. The gallery is at 100 E Madison St. at Ashley Drive. Hours are 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. For information, call (813) 221-5343.

Financial workshop offered for women

The Centre For Women, 305 S Hyde Park Ave., is offering a financial workshop for women from 9 a.m. to noon Monday. The workshop is designed for women who are recently widowed or are going through a divorce or legal separation. Participants will learn steps to lead them through changes in their financial situation as they pursue a more secure level of independence. Belinda Wilson, financial consultant with Salomon Smith Barney Inc., will address the topics of custody accounts, trusts, child support payments, Social Security and pension plans. Decorative artists to meet Saturday

Florida Suncoast Decorative Artists will hold its monthly meeting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S Dale Mabry Highway. Ruth Johnson will teach members and guests the art of painting outside and inside a lamp shade using acrylic paint. Bring flat shader, round brushes, palette, water container and paper towels.
