Making a bid for the 2012 Olympics

Florida 2012 has raised $8.85-million since 1997, when Tampa officials announced plans to bid for the Summer Games. Cash pledges total $6.3-million. In-kind contributions account for the rest. Local Olympics officials hope to raise as much as $11-million through 2002, when the United States Olympic Committee decides which American city will participate in the international competition to be host of the Games.
