Local ceremonies celebrate Greek Independence DayBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published March 17, 2001 CLEARWATER -- Today's events marking Greek Independence Day include a 1 p.m. flag-raising ceremony at Clearwater City Hall, 112 S Osceola Ave. The Rev. Father James Rousakis of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church will preside, and the event will feature local dignitaries, music and a 47-member music and dance group from Greece, the Philharmonic Orchestra and Tsoliades. After the ceremony, the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association, Chapter No. 356, will hold a luncheon at 2 p.m. at the AHEPA chapter at 1156 Jasper St., Largo.
