Hernando in briefBy Times staff reports © St. Petersburg Times, published March 19, 2001 Naked man charged with attacking deputiesA Brooksville man was charged Saturday with attacking two Hernando County Sheriff's Office deputies who were attempting to approach him as he stood naked on top of a car. Nicholas Morrow, 19, of 15063 Snow Memorial Highway north of Brooksville, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, criminal mischief and indecent exposure. Police say Morrow was standing naked on a vehicle parked in front of 22033 Lake Lindsey Road at about 4 a.m. Saturday when they tried to talk to him. At that point, Morrow threw a rock at one deputy, police records say. He then charged both deputies and fought with them as they tried to arrest him by kicking and punching them. Police later learned that Morrow had broken a rear window at the Lake Lindsey home, records say. Morrow was being held Saturday at Hernando County Jail in lieu of $16,000 bond. Traffic accident hospitalizes four peopleFour people were hospitalized following a traffic accident west of Brooksville on Saturday, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. At about 6 p.m., 16-year-old Patrick Micheal Bauer of Altamonte Springs was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck west on State Road 50 at the intersection of Spring Lake Highway when he struck the 1988 Buick driven by Donna Sue Restrepo, 42, of Brooksville. Restrepo was eastbound on Highway 50 and made a left hand turn into the path of Bauer's truck, according to the report. Bauer had a green light when he crossed the intersection, the report states. Restrepo and her passenger, Nathane Bobby Brown, 40 of Brooksville, were taken to Bayfront Medical Center in Tampa. Neither had been wearing seatbelts. Bauer and his passenger, Francise Luis Cadavid, 16, of Apopka, were treated and released from Brooksville Regional Hospital. No charges have been made in the accident. The public is invited to attend a free seminar sponsored by Brooksville and Spring Hill regional hospitals on at 6 p.m. March 27 in the Spring Hill Regional Hospital cafeteria. The seminar will focus on skin cancer prevention and treatment including the latest medical breakthroughs and rejuvenation techniques. The seminar will be presented by plastic surgeon Sunanda Singh. For registration, call 544-6161. Donations needed for rescue missionJericho Road Ministries is seeking donations to help support its rescue mission. The mission is supported by donations from individuals in the community, local churches and other civic organizations. The ministry operates a thrift store in Midway Plaza, 15319 Cortez Blvd. and it accepts used merchandise and household items that can be resold to help contribute to the costs of the rescue mission shelter. The shelter is at 1090 Mondon Hill Road and offers a transient program for men needing temporary overnight assistance, in addition to a 12-week resident program. Donations can be taken at the store 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays, or donations needing to be picked up can be scheduled by calling 799-9009 during regular business hours.
