Meeting to discuss truck route plan

The Hillsborough County Planning & Growth Management Department will hold a public meeting to discuss proposed amendments to the truck route plan.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Brandon Recreation Center, 510 E Sadie St. For information, call (813) 276-8375.

Painting event slated Thursday

The Brandon League of Fine Arts is having a paint-out at the Hoot Owl Hollar Ranch, 1014 Bell Shoals Lane, off Guiles Road close to Bloomingdale High School.

Things to paint include an old house and old shed, a hay rake, hay bales, a sugar cane mill and molasses cauldron. Bring art equipment to paint, sketch or draw outdoors with other artists.

RUSKIN/SUN CITY CENTER

The Col. George Mercer Brooke Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at 1009 N Pebble Beach Blvd., in the Florida Room of the Atrium Complex.

This month's theme is "Patriotic Heritage" and includes a book review on The Greatest Generation. For information, call (813) 634-6017.

Catching kingfish topic of discussion

Capt. Bobby Aylesworth of Aylesworth Fish and Bait will discuss rigging and catching kingfish.

Program offers help for writing life story

The Franciscan Center presents a daylong program titled, "Write Your Own Life Story."

Registration should be received by Friday and costs $25 per person. The program is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., March 28 at the center, 3010 Perry Ave. Participants will produce a short piece of autobiographical writing and will learn the skills needed to complete their life stories at their own pace. Temple Terrace Garden's "Spring Fling" Thursday

The Temple Terrace Garden will be holding its annual "Spring Fling" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave. The event offers games, cards, door prizes, luncheon and a fashion show by Brigettia's of Victorian Village. Tampa Bay Newcomers holds monthly luncheon

Tampa Bay Newcomers will hold its monthly luncheon March 27 at the Center Club, 123 S West Shore Blvd.

Reservations and payment must be received by Thursday. The luncheon will start with a social hour at 10:30 a.m. followed by a brief meeting and lunch. Tampa Bay Newcomers is a non-profit social organization that helps women new to the area meet others and explore mutual interests through group activities. For information, call (813) 902-1147.
