River Basin Board members named

CRYSTAL RIVER -- Gov. Jeb Bush recently reappointed Sam Lyons of Crystal River to the Withlacoochee River Basin Board, which provides guidance for local programs related to the watershed basin. Lyons will serve until March 2004. Jack V. Dennis of Dunnellon also was appointed to the board, as well as JoAnn R. Alexander of Spring Hill.

Law officers ride for a cause

INVERNESS -- Motorcycle units from several law enforcement agencies will participate in the Spring Motorcycle Ride 2001, beginning at 10:30 a.m. April 8 in the Courthouse Square in downtown Inverness. Motorcycles from the Florida Highway Patrol, and the sheriff's offices of Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough and Pasco counties, along with the Inverness Police Department, will participate in the ride. The ride is in conjunction with the Law Enforcement Torch Run and is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics Florida State Games, scheduled for April 27 in Kissimmee. Civilians can participate in the 65-mile ride through Citrus County, for a donation of $15, which includes a T-shirt for each rider.

Kiwanis to flip pancakes

INVERNESS -- The Inverness Kiwanis Club will host a pancake breakfast from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8 at the Citrus High School cafeteria. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice. Cost is $3.
