A former Spring Hill homebuilder accused of cheating customers out of hundreds of thousands of dollars turned himself in to authorities Monday.

Steven Bultema, president of Lighthouse Building Co., surrendered at the Hernando County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of organized fraud and was later released without having to post bail.

Bultema, 44, who lives in Tennessee, is accused of scheming to commit a series of thefts by taking deposits and bank draws from customers, then diverting the money for improper purposes.

A court date had not been set as of Tuesday afternoon.
