Magic gets balance for road victory

CHICAGO -- Monty Williams was glad to get overlooked.

Williams scored a season-high 22 Tuesday night and the Orlando Magic sent the Bulls to their seventh loss in a row, 103-95.

Darrell Armstrong had 17 points and 13 assists and Mike Miller added 15 points for the Magic.

The Magic won for the third time in four games despite Tracy McGrady being limited to 12 points on 5-for-16 shooting.

"They focus on guys like Tracy, Darrell and Mike," Williams said. "So different guys had to step it up. The Bulls didn't pay much attention to me until I got going."

McGrady contributed despite his poor shooting.

"I was off," he said. "I got 11 rebounds, seven assists. It was an all-around game. I just tried to get somebody else to win it."

Fred Hoiberg scored 19 for the Bulls. Marcus Fizer had 18 and Ron Mercer added 18 points and a career-high 10 assists for Chicago.

"I thought our two primary problems tonight were turnovers and defensive transitions," Bulls coach Tim Floyd said. "They got a great game out of Monty Williams. A lot of that was the result of Darrell Armstrong."

Orlando center Andrew DeClercq dominated the first quarter, scoring 11 points on 5-for-5 shooting and leading the Magic to an 11-point lead.

DeClercq, however, sat out the rest of the game because of a strained right calf.

Mercer scored Chicago's last 10 points of the first quarter for a 28-26 lead.

With the Magic still down by two, Williams scored eight points during a 12-0 run that put the Magic up 44-34 with 4:51 left in the half. The score was tied at 81 before Miller hit a three-pointer with 8:13 left to put the Magic ahead for good.
