Pinellas County should increase its payroll by $82,000 a year to give pay raises to 27 county management employees, a consultant told County Commissioners on Tuesday.

The county's personnel department contracted with a Tallahassee-based firm, MGT of America, to study the pay and benefits for managerial employees, including the county administrator and county attorney. The firm said that in several of those jobs, salaries have not kept pace with the job market.

It recommended increasing pay for nine employees in the county attorney's office by a combined $40,744 per year and for 18 employees in other departments by a total of $41,576 per year.
