LOCAL HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR EXCHANGE STUDENTS: ASSE International Student Exchange Programs seeks local host families for boys and girls from Europe, Asia, the former Soviet Union, Canada, South America, Australia and New Zealand. These students are ages 15 to 18 and will be coming to Citrus county for the upcoming high school year. Host families may choose their students through applications, pictures, and biographical essays. TEEN COUNCIL: Coastal Region Library seeks youths ages 13 to 18 to serve on a teen council to assist the library in developing programs for teens. Members will be encouraged to express ideas for youth programs, materials for the library and the new library teen Web site. The council will meet at 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the Community Room. For information, call 795-3716.

AMERICAN GIRLS BOOK CLUB: Coastal Region Library sponsors an American Girls Book Club from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in the Community Room for children ages 7 to 12 to talk about different time periods and do related activities. For information, call 795-3716.

STORY TIME: The Citrus County Library System is offering free story time programs for 3- to 6-year-olds, which may include finger plays, flannel board stories, book sharing, games, songs, dance or crafts. The programs are at 11 a.m. Tuesdays at Central Ridge Library, 9:30 a.m. Thursdays at Lakes Region Library; 10 a.m. Tuesdays at Homosassa Public Library; and 2 p.m. Saturdays at Floral City Public Library. No registration required. Bedtime stories are at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at Central Ridge Library and 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday at Lakes Region Library. Children 2 and older are encouraged to wear pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal to this reading time.

TAE KWON DO: Citrus County Parks and Recreation is offering tae kwon do classes to children 6 and older. The first class is free. Cost is $10 for the first month, $20 for each additional month. Students learn self-control, confidence, self-defense, discipline and respect. Classes meet once a week as follows: Citrus County Auditorium from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays; Lecanto Primary School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays; Crystal River Middle School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays; Citrus Springs Middle School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday; Beverly Hills Community Building from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays; and Homosassa Riverside Resort from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
