TAMPA -- Investigators suspect that the same man is responsible for four purse snatchings earlier this month in store parking lots in the Carrollwood area.

From March 8 through March 13, four women were approached by a man in the parking lots of grocery stores and drug stores along N Dale Mabry Highway, officials said.

The suspect stole purses from the women and then drove away. Most of the incidents occurred in the afternoon.

On March 8 and again on March 10, the suspect robbed women in the parking lot of the Kash n' Karry at 15690 N Dale Mabry. On March 11, he robbed a woman in the Eckerd Drugs parking lot at 6607 N Dale Mabry. Two days later, he struck again in the parking lot of a strip mall at 14829 N Dale Mabry.

Officials warn that people in this area should be aware of their surroundings and always have their car keys ready.

The suspect was described as black, 30 to 40 years old, about 6 feet tall and 180 to 240 pounds. He has very short hair and was wearing a hat during all four robberies.

Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
