NEW IN TOWN
More sushi and more than sushi at two new Japanese spots:
- Robata Grill & Sushi (3760 East Bay Drive, Largo; (727) 539-7399) has the namesake grills for beef, plus teppanyaki and shabuyaki -- where diners cook their their own. Entrees run $12 to $20.
- Edo Steakhouse & Sushi Bar (4500 66th St. N, St. Petersburg; (727) 549-8106) adds bento boxes, yakisoba and other noodle dishes to its teppanyaki and sushi offerings. Lunches, $5 to $7; dinners, $10 to $30.
TAKING CHARGE
After 31/2 years, chef Eric Webber takes ownership of Sutherland Cafe, the uptown restaurant in downtown Palm Harbor (1026 Florida Ave., Palm Harbor; (727) 787-7734. As owner, Webber hopes to focus on dinner and add a full bar.
IN THE OVEN
Look for Mystic Fish in the place of Palm Harbor's old Sea Grille. Eugen Fuhrman and Doug Bebell of Guppy's and E&E plan Mystic to be a 150-seater with full bar and, no surprise, seafood, including a broad range of fish. Should open in six weeks or so.
I'LL HAVE ANOTHER . . .
Order of fried green tomatoes. Crisp tomatoes in a flaky batter -- grease and vitamins at the same time -- were good Southern eating long before the movie. They're showing up more often from Safety Harbor's Whistle Stop to Lee Roy Selmon's in Tampa. There's more flavor than most red tomatoes in restaurants.
