Fire destroys office of sheet metal company
TARPON SPRINGS -- A fire caused $150,000 damage to a sheet metal company Thursday morning, fire officials said. The fire, which started in the office of High Tech Industries, was reported by an employee who saw smoke when he arrived at work about 5:15 a.m., said Kevin Bowman, deputy chief of the Tarpon Springs Fire Department. The office of the business, which is at 425 E Spruce St., was destroyed, and neighboring businesses were damaged by smoke and water, Bowman said. Nobody was injured, and the fire was determined to be accidental.
PALM HARBOR -- Palm Harbor University High School Thespian Troupe 5590 presents a new adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank at 7:30 p.m. tonight and Saturday at the high school, 1900 Omaha St. Palm Harbor is one of five high schools in the state that have been invited to bring their shows to the Florida State Thespian Conference in Tampa on April 5. TARPON SPRINGS -- Tarpon Springs High School's show choir, Syndicated Sound, presents A Tour through the South at 7 tonight at the high school's auditorium, 1411 Gulf Road. This is a free show so the choir can thank the community for helping it raise $16,000 of the $25,000 needed to go to Branson, Mo. for the national show choir competition. Last year, the group placed seventh at the competition.
