Open & shutBy MARY ELMORE © St. Petersburg Times, published March 25, 2001 CarrollwoodPERSONAL FITNESS AND KICKBOXING: David's Personal Training Studio opened this month at the Bourbon Street Plaza and offers cardio kickboxing and fitness instruction. The 2,000-square-foot facility offers a full line of Body Master equipment, free weights and cardiovascular machines. Manny Calo, a six-degree black belt most recently affiliated with the Jewish Community Center in Citrus Park, is on staff. Calo has developed martial-arts-based fitness programs for children, women and seniors, including kick boxing, and water kick boxing. Owners Julia Trott and David Trott, a competitive bodybuilder, also offer group and private training sessions. Both are certified trainers through the American College of Sports Medicine who can help clients reach their fitness, weight and nutritional goals. A summer fitness camp program is planned. The studio is at 5251 Ehrlich Road, near Hutchison Road. * * * TANNING SALON OPENING SOON: Malibu Rayz is opening another salon this summer in the Shoppes of Carrollwood Plaza, 14394 N Dale Mabry Highway, where the Planet Smoothie used to be.
