BROOKSVILLE -- A Clearwater man who led Brooksville police on a chase, smashed into an unmarked cruiser and nearly ran over an officer received a three-year prison sentence Tuesday. Telly L. Roundtree, 24, of 15171 Willow Way Apt. C pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of battery on a law enforcement officer as well as resisting arrest with violence, felony fleeing and eluding and driving with a suspended license. Police originally tried to pull him over in September for outstanding warrants and questioning in the drug-related killing of a Spring Hill man. Roundtree was never linked to the killing. He will have to pay the city of Brooksville $1,087 for the damage caused during the chase, which ended after he ran from his car and was found hiding in a Brooksville home. He was sentenced Tuesday by Circuit Judge John W. Booth.
