Teenage girl listed as fair after being struck by carBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published March 29, 2000 A 13-year-old Seminole Middle School student who was struck by a car as she waited for a school bus Monday was in fair condition Tuesday afternoon at Bayfront Medical Center. Kathryn Marvich suffered a broken pelvis, broken leg, broken knee and numerous bumps and bruises when she was tossed as high as 10 feet in the air by a driver whose car struck the girl on the shoulder of the road where Kathryn and other children were waiting for their school bus. The driver of the car, Alice Williams, 78, of Seminole, was charged with careless driving. Clearwater man sentenced in chaseBROOKSVILLE -- A Clearwater man who led Brooksville police on a chase, smashed into an unmarked cruiser and nearly ran over an officer received a three-year prison sentence Tuesday. Telly L. Roundtree, 24, of 15171 Willow Way, Apt. C, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of battery on a law enforcement officer as well as resisting arrest with violence, felony fleeing and eluding, and driving with a suspended license. Police originally tried to pull him over in September for outstanding warrants and questioning in the drug-related killing of a Spring Hill man. Roundtree was never linked to the killing. He will have to pay the city of Brooksville $1,087 for the damage caused during the chase, which ended after he ran from his car and was found hiding in a Brooksville home. He was sentenced Tuesday by Circuit Judge John W. Booth. Plant sale in Largo includes craftsLARGO -- A variety of plants will be sold from 10 a.m. -- 3 p.m. on Saturday at the historic Largo Feed Store next to the Cultural Center in Largo Central Park, 295 Central Park Drive. Sponsored by the Largo Area Historical Society, the sale will take place in conjunction with the Feed Store's monthly open house. There will also be several demonstrations including pine needle basket weaving, arrowhead making and preserving photographs and scrapbooks. To donate plants or for information, call 441-1338. Program for diabetics shows new insulin penCLEARWATER -- A program and demonstration on the new MIX 25 insulin pen has been arranged for people with Type 2 diabetes who are taking NPH insulin or 70/30. The free event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Diabetes Education Center of the Largo Medical Center, 1300 S Fort Harrison Ave., Clearwater. The new method requires no vials, syringes or refrigeration after its first use. Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited, so reservations are needed.
