Singles group meets twice a month

Activities Unlimited of Brandon, an adult singles activities group, will meet at 6 p.m. April 4 and April 18. The group meets at the Brandon Brew House, 770 W Lumsden Road, for dinner and drinks and to plan activities on the first and third Wednesday of each month. CARROLLWOOD/NORTHDALE/ODESSA

Drainage topic of public meeting

Residents are invited to attend a public meeting to discuss drainage improvements along Hoffman Boulevard in northwest Hillsborough County. Hillsborough County staff and engineers will discuss the project and answer questions. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. today in the cafeteria at Lake Magdalene Elementary School, 2002 Pine Lake Drive. The $43,000 project, scheduled to begin in early 2002, will include constructing swales along both sides of Hoffman Boulevard, from about 200 feet east of Interstate 275 to 400 feet west of Nebraska Avenue. Blood drive set in Sam's Club lot

Florida Blood Services will have a bloodmobile set up in the parking lot at Sam's Club, 15835 N Dale Mabry Highway, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Donors should be generally healthy, 17 or older and weigh at least 100 pounds. Identification is required before donation. Donors will receive a T-shirt, a cholesterol screening, a free one-day Sam's Club membership pass and a free Sam's Club hot dog coupon. Also, donors will get a free coupon from Just Brakes for a free bleed, flush, adjust and inspection of brakes and a free lower deck outfield ticket to a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game of their choice. Blood, marrow transplant support group to meet

Neighborhood watch party is Saturday Residents in each of the Tampa Palms villages are invited to attend a neighborhood watch party starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event will be held at Compton Park, 16101 Compton Drive. Highlights of the event will include a helicopter demonstration as well as demonstrations by motorcycle, canine and underwater dive teams. Camp available for children with asthma

The American Lung Association is taking registration for its weeklong summer camp for children with asthma. The camp, designed for ages 7-17, will help relieve some of the fears associated with asthma and teach the children how to lead full and active lives while sharing similar experiences with others. The camp will be Aug. 11-17 at Boggy Creek Gang Camp, near Orlando. Volunteer medical staff, including doctors, nurse, pharmacists and respiratory therapists, will be present at all times. The cost is $500 per child; the registration deadline is May 1. Individual and business sponsorships are needed. For information or application, call (727) 347-6133.

Luncheon, auction benefits Salvation Army

The Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army will host its annual Fashion Show Luncheon and Doll Auction from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 6. The fundraiser will be at the Worship Center, 1100 W Sligh Ave. Fashions will be presented by Stein Mart. The prize-winning doll auction will feature original creations donated for this event. Business association hosts breakfast meetings

The SouthShore Business Association hosts breakfast meetings from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. on Wednesdays. Meetings are at Surfside Grill, 6414 Surfside Blvd., in Apollo Beach. Guests are welcome. The association, formerly Apollo Beach Business Association, was formed for businessmen and businesswomen to develop business relationships, make contacts, share information and promote one another's business through the exchanging of quality referrals.
