NEW PORT RICHEY -- River Ridge had a successful tuneup Wednesday for next week's Sunshine Athletic Conference meet, handily defeating Ridgewood and Mitchell by 30 points in a tri-meet at the Jim Valentine Athletic Complex.

The Royal Knights cruised, winning eight classes and scoring 55 points -- and many did not even approach their maximum weights. Now that his team is two-deep at every weight class, River Ridge coach Mike Marlin said he is eager to see what happens next week.

"Now we know we've competed against everybody (in the conference)," Marlin said. "We've got all the numbers now, so we can see exactly where we're at.

"The only team that I think will give us a run for the conference will be Zephyrhills."

The Rams and the Mustangs tied for second, scoring 25 points, but Ridgewood won two weight classes, 139 and 154.

At 139, the Rams' Matt York led with a combined 385, lifting 210 on the bench and 175 on the clean-and-jerk.

James "Tiny" McFaden won 154 with a 215 bench and a clean-and-jerk of 195.

River Ridge was led by heavyweight Zach Pantas' combined 520. He also led the team with a 300-pound bench. Alan Minichino won 219 with a team-high clean-and-jerk of 225. He lifted a combined 500.

Gary Pargament won 119 with a 225 bench and a combined 380. Andrew Hutchinson won 129, benching 215 and lifting 140 in the clean-and-jerk for a combined 355.

Tim Dare took 169 with a 270 bench and a 205 clean-and-jerk. Jason Cline won 183. He benched 225.

John Gilmore, Pasco County's fastest man on the track, benched 260 and lifted 205 in the clean-and-jerk to win 199 with a combined 465.

Adam Eberle won 238 with a combined 495.

He benched 295 and clean-and-jerked 200.
