Today: An exhibit of Japanese ink paintings of Yolanda Mayhall and Japanese calligraphy of Ted Mayhall, "The Brush Dances, the Ink Sings Revisited" concludes at the Pasco Art Center, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. In the Upstairs Gallery, the original acrylic paintings of Richard Frank Giganti are on exhibit. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Today-Saturday: About 20 members of the Happy Holiday China Artists Club will exhibit works at the Alric C.T. Pottberg Library on the west Pasco County campus of Pasco-Hernando Community College, Ridge Road, New Port Richey. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, 2-4 p.m. Saturday.

Today-May 20: Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical Carousel opens today at Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Shows are at 1:30 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays; 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 3 p.m. Sundays. Doors open two hours before each show for buffet and cash bar. Saturday: The Hudson Regional Library will hold Bookfest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event includes a book sale, musical entertainment by Natural Blend, pony rides, clowns, face painting, the Boston Dance Connection dancers and a kids' art exhibit. Food and drinks will be for sale.

Sunday: The rock group Forever Young will perform at 1 p.m. at Longleaf subdivision off State Road 54 between Little Road and Gunn Highway. Food and drinks will be for sale. Admission is free.

Sunday: The Bernie Maloney Quartet will perform at 2 p.m. at South Holiday Library, 4649 Mile Stretch Drive, Holiday. Admission is $2.50. Tickets are available at all Pasco County library branches or at the door.

Sunday: The Richey Community Orchestra will present Opera Gala at 3 p.m. at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. Guest performers Irv Clark, Suzanne Ruley and Shirley Button will perform arias from Verdi's La Traviata, Puccini's La Boheme, Mozart's The Magic Flute and more. Conductor Deidre Reigel will lead the orchestra in Orpheus in the Underworld, The Meistersinger and Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana. Tickets are $8, open seating. Sunday: The Community United Methodist Church will present a concert of gospel and popular music at 5 p.m. at the church, 3214 U.S. 19, Holiday. Featured performers are the Heavenly Chimes Handbell Choir, ukulele player Naomi Mongeau, singers Mary Whittle and Catherine Phillips and the Men of Brass instrumental group.

Monday: Singer Stan Prinston will perform rhythm and blues at 8 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center of West Pasco, 9841 Scenic Drive, Port Richey. Admission is $2.

Tuesday: A film of Giuseppi Verdi's opera Macbeth will be shown at 10 a.m. at Hudson Regional Library on Library Road (off Fivay Road, north of State Road 52) in Hudson. The film was made in a medieval castle in the Belgian Ardennes and features Leo Nucci as Macbeth, Shirley Verrett as Lady Macbeth, Samuel Ramey as Banquo and Veriano Lucetti as Macduff. Admission is free.

Tuesday-Wednesday: The dramatization Three Pioneer Women of Florida, 1852-1974 will be presented at noon at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge, Town Center Road, New Port Richey. The play, which is performed in period costume, features Judy Gail as Mary Barr Munroe (1852-1922); Jude Parry as May Mann Jennings (1870-1963); and Carrie Sue Ayvar as Rosie Weiss (1886-1974). Thursday: The Jubilee Men's chorus will be the featured performers at a concert by the Thursday Musicale, a 50-women chorus, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, 6561 Circle Drive, New Port Richey. The two groups will combine to sing Battle Hymn of the Republic and selections from Phantom of the Opera. Admission is free, but an offering will be accepted.

Today-April 21: An exhibit of paintings by artist Antonio Caparello, "Myths and Metaphors," continues at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S Pinellas Ave. (Alt. U.S. 19). Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays.

Today: The Ensemble Galilei and guest performer Steve Bloom will give a concert of Celtic and early music at 8 p.m. at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St., Tarpon Springs. The five-member group plays violin, Celtic harp, Scottish small pipes, oboe, recorder, viola da gamba, percussion and bowed psaltery. Admission is $13. Call 942-5605.

April 6-8: The 12th annual Rotary Club of Seven Springs Odessa Rodeo and Festival will be held at Anclote River Ranch, State Road 54, Odessa. The event features food, rodeos and entertainment from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. April 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 7 and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. April 8. Rodeos are at 7:30 p.m. April 6, 1 and 7:30 p.m. April 7 and 4 p.m. April 8. Admission is $10 in advance, $12 at the gate. Ages 10 and younger get a $2 discount; all open seating. Parking is $4. Curtain calls

April 1 and 2: Auditions for the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be held at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson at 7 p.m. Those who audition should prepare 16 bars of an uptempo song and a ballad and be prepared to dance.
