MacDonald Parents Group to meet

Centre to offer anger workshop

The Centre for Women, 305 S Hyde Park Ave., will offer a workshop on "Transforming Anger" from 9 a.m. to noon April 9 and 10. Caroline Wiley will conduct the two-day workshop that is designed to help participants transform anger through the use of words. Reservations are required; Class size is limited to 15 people. DACCO to celebrate 28th anniversary

DACCO will host its 11th annual breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S Franklin St. DACCO will be celebrating 28 years of successful substance abuse prevention and treatment. Gen. Barry McCaffrey, former director, National Drug Policy Office and commander-in-chief of the U.S. military's Southern Command, will be the guest speaker. McCaffrey, also assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has been awarded two distinguished Service Crosses, a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. Belinda Womack and the Apollo Beach Elementary School's musical group, "Dolphin Magic," will provide musical entertainment. For information, call (813) 984-1702, ext. 272.

Traffic issues to be discussed

Hillsborough County staff will hold two public meetings next week to discuss traffic. On 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mort Elementary School, 1806 Bearss Ave., the focus will be 151st Avenue from 12th Street to Livingston Avenue. At 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Northwest Elementary School, 16438 Hutchison Road, the focus will be Willowdale Road from Rawls Road to Redcliffe Drive. Recommendations to county commissioners on solving the traffic problems will be based on these meetings. For information, call (813) 272-5275.

'Mom's night out' planned for Tuesday

The Tampa Chapter of Mothers & More will have its "Mom's Night Out" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Green Parrot Pub, 11759 N Dale Mabry Highway. The not-for-profit support organization is for women making the transition from employment outside the home to full-time motherhood. Hospital hosts nursing open house

The nursing staff at James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, 1300 Bruce B Downs Blvd., will host its second annual Nursing Service Open House from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Nationally renowned speaker Leslie Gibson, R.N., will discuss "Health and Humor in Nursing Practice." This year's theme is "Unwrap Your Potential and Give Yourself the Gift of an Exciting Career." The event will include a complimentary buffet by Luigi's Catering, poster sessions by the nursing staff and unit tours. Nurse recruiter Veronica Vega will be available to answer questions about employment. The chief of staff for nursing and the associate chiefs of various nursing departments will attend. Daytime Bridge Group plans meeting

The Daytime Bridge Group of the Carrollwood and NW Hillsborough Newcomers will meet at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Westchase Golf Club, 11602 Westchase Golf Drive; lunch will be served. The deadline for renewal dues from current members is April 30. For information, call Kitti at (813) 792-1055.
