Man dies in early morning shootingBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 1, 2001 TAMPA -- Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies found a dead man in the parking lot of an apartment building early Saturday. Spokeswoman Debbie Carter said deputies responded at 3:30 a.m. to a call about gunshots at the Fredericksburg Apartments at 13144 N 20th Street. They found a white man in his 40s dead of a single gunshot wound. He was in the parking lot in front of his apartment, No. 110. The Sheriff's Office did not release the victim's identity. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide. Carter said police are looking for a compact yellow pickup truck, occupied by three males, that had been seen leaving the apartment complex about the time of the shooting.
