Baseball -- AAU Warhawks

Umpires sought

The Suncoast Umpires Association is seeking umpires for levels from Little League through adult. Basic umpiring experience is required, and further training will be provided. Basketball -- Pro-Am league

The Tampa Bay Pro-Am Summer League is accepting applications from individuals or groups interested in joining. Childs Park tryouts

Cycling -- Suncoast club

Football -- Sharks

The St. Petersburg semi-pro team, formerly known as the Triangles, is conducting tryouts. Practice is Tuesday through Thursday at the 31st Street Sports Complex at the corner of 31st Street and 54th Avenue S from 7-9 p.m. Players must be 18 or older. For more information, call (727) 896-6961.

Raymond Smith of Pinellas Park aced the 170-yard third hole at Tampa Bay Golf Club on March 14 using a 5-iron.

Lorne McMullin of Amherst, Nova Scotia, aced the 103-yard fifth hole at East Bay Executive on March 17 with a pitching wedge.

Pete Gulliksen aced the 101-yard 13th of East Bay's Executive on March 26 with a wedge.

St. Pete Beach -- St. Pete Beach is looking for adult teams for the spring season in the Monday night men's league. The 10-week season costs $300 per squad. Registration ends April 13. For more information, call Shawn Daily, 363-9244.

St. Petersburg adult league -- Registration for returning teams in the St. Petersburg men's, women's and mixed leagues will be April 23-27 at the city's athletic office, 1320 Fifth St. N. The entry fee is $300 per squad. Registration for new teams will be May 5, starting at 8 a.m. at the athletic office. The fee is $315 per club. A non-resident card is required for players living outside the city limits. All leagues begin May 21. For more information, call 892-5223.

Swimming -- Clinic

St. Petersburg Aquatics is having a clinic for novice to competitive swimmers 10-18. The clinic will be at Admiral Farragut Academy, 501 Park St. N, St. Petersburg. It will run Monday through Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. from April 2 through May 17. The cost is $81 plus a $20 per family fee. Swimmers must bring a copy of their birth certificate.
